We went to Disney World for Matt's birthday.

We toured "Behind the Seeds" at the Land pavillion in EPCOT.

We got stuck on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority in Magic Kingdom.
(we got free fast passes for our troubles)

We played in the caves and on the bridges of Tom Sawyer's Island in Magic Kingdom.

We ate DELICIOUS sushi in the Tokyo restaurant in Japan in EPCOT.

Hydrangeas

So I kind of have a thing for hydrangeas....The pink bomb is from my front yard. The blues are from my grandmother's yard in Tuscumbia.

Matt's Birthday Party

Next Monday is Matt's big 3-0. We celebrated with his family when we were home over Labor day weekend. Matt is a huge Batman fan so we had a Batman themed birthday party. I'm not sure if he even had a party this elaborate growing up. Marg and Tyson supplied the cookie cake from Sugarbakers and the awesome Batman decorations. Dale made some delicious ribs and wings. It was a great party.

Delicious cake - also hilarious.

Marg and Tyson delivered the cake to Matt while we all sang the Batman television show theme song.

Our children will probably never have a Batman party this elaborate.

Batman and the Bat mobile offered great entertainment after dinner.

We're going to DisneyWorld this weekend to take advantage of their birthday promotion. Matt can't wait and neither can I!
Happy Early Birthday sweetie!

A Friday laugh...

http://awkwardfamilyphotos.com/2009/09/04/nativity/

One of my favorite websites, and one of the funnier pictures I've seen on it.

College Football Season Begins!!

1.College football has begun and the party has started in the Crockett household. Last night we grilled chicken wings with 4 different kinds of seasoning: Garlic, Salt and Pepper; Lemon Pepper; Kona Coffee Rub from Hawaii and Jamaican Jerk with Rosemary. They were pretty tasty. We also had chips, salsa and fresh chocolate chip cookies from the oven. The games weren't much to write home about, but hey, it was on ESPN and it wasn't a replay!

2. Rece Davis's impression/spoof of Tim Tebow's tear-filled speech last year = AWESOME. As an Alabama fan living in Florida I have gotten my fill of Tebow worship, and don't get me started on FSU fans. :-) Don't get me wrong, Tebow is an amazing guy and a wonderful Christian example. If I had a son as level-headed, talented and dedicated to God as he is I will consider myself lucky. But despite all that, he DOES play for Florida and as an Alabama fan from infancy I'm hardwired to love anything that pokes fun at Florida, especially their top player.

3. Steve Spurrier won the game last night but in his post game interview he was as angry as I've ever seen him after a loss. True, the game was boring to watch because both teams were so bad, but hey, South Carolina still managed to win despite themselves so maybe he could have at least mentioned an outstanding player instead of literally saying, "We're pretty bad".

4. Matt is going to the Vandy game this weekend with his dad who has season tickets. This means my entire Saturday will consist of visiting family, sewing, eating chili and watching Alabama! I can't wait. I think the Va. Tech game is going to be really good. I'm going to be sporting my Bama jersey and Steve and Wil will be wearing their colors as well. Stevie even has a white and red #8 jersey. We call her Julio. I'll be sporting my good luck jewelry: an elephant bracelet my dad gave me and my Alabama necklace Matt gave me. I will be SET! ROLL TIDE!

5. We are heading home this weekend to be with family and to venture to North Alabama for the first time since my 10-year reunion in June. It's been a long summer without a visit home. We'll make up for it with visits home this fall, though. Summer is when people want to visit us for the beach. Fall is when we like to visit home and actually see fall foliage. I never thought our area of the world got really pretty in the fall when I grew up there, but, now that I've moved away...I come home and can't get over the colors. North Florida stays pretty green until January and then it just goes brown. Like, dead leaves brown...yuck. So I appreciate the colors in B'ham and Florence more than ever.

6. Happy Labor Day to all. Enjoy that extra day off! I will most likely be in B'ham on my way home to Tallahassee, stimulating the economy at Hobby Lobby.

7. And oh yeah...one more ROLL TIDE for good measure.
R-O-L-L T-I-D-E, Roll Tide ROLL~
