For Jud...

Jud asked what we are planting in our new garden, here is the list:

(in no particular order)

Corn
3 types of Tomatoes
Cucumbers
Strawberries
Sweet Banana Peppers
Lavender
Lemon Balm
Oregano
Rosemary
2 kinds of Basil
Arugula
Parsley
Marigolds
Squash
Sweet Verbinium
Aztec Grass
Hydrangeas - FL and AL types (the AL types are from my Grandma's yard and I HOPE HOPE HOPE they take good root. I don't know if they like the FL sandy soil. They came from RED 'Bama clay)
some purple grass
monkey grass
little cabbages
Violas
Zinias
and we have pots with
Lemons
Key Limes
Blackberries
Grapes

If all of this grows well, I may never have to go to the grocery store again...

Wow! That's quite a list. Gives new meaning to the phrase "grow your own". I've noticed where gardens like yours are becoming hip and popular now that people are going greener and trying to eat heathier. Maybe someday we can have one like that. You'll have to keep us posted on the results.

We're not really doing it to be "green" or "sustainable", gardening is just Matt's thing. But you're right about it being hip and popular now. We're still learning the sandy soil down here, not exactly what we grew up with, but I have every confidence in Matt. The best garden we ever had was in Tuscaloosa right after we got married. Matt grew some delicious tomatoes from seeds. My grandparents were impressed.
